Senior Character Concept Artist (Remote/Permanent) Beffio Studio – https://www.beffio.com Job Type: Permanent / Remote Location: European Union Countries Position Overview We are looking for a Senior Character Concept Artist who excels at designing stylized characters with strong personality, emotional depth, and narrative presence for our AA and AAA game projects. In this role, you will: - Create characters that feel alive, expressive, and story-driven - Focus on personality, emotion, and visual storytelling as core design pillars - Work closely with Art Directors to shape characters that go beyond functional designs and become memorable identities This is a senior, hands-on role within a fully remote and collaborative studio environment. Responsibilities Character Design with Personality - Design stylized characters that communicate personality, emotion, and narrative through pose, expression, and shape language - Develop characters with clear visual identity and emotional readability - Use exaggeration, contrast, and stylization to support storytelling Visual Storytelling & Emotional Design - Translate narrative context, themes, and character backstories into visual form - Explore facial expressions, body language, and costume to reinforce character emotion - Create characters that support player connection and immersion Design Exploration & Iteration - Create sketches, thumbnails, and design explorations to refine character concepts - Iterate on designs based on feedback while preserving emotional intent - Explore variations to strengthen character appeal and clarity Production-Ready Character Concepts - Deliver clear, readable character concepts suitable for 3D production - Communicate materials, proportions, and design intent effectively - Support 3D artists with visual guidance and clarification when needed Collaboration & Communication - Work closely with Art Directors, Leads, and Producers - Clearly articulate design choices and storytelling decisions - Collaborate effectively in a remote team environment Requirements Experience - 6+ years of professional experience as a Character Concept Artist - Experience working on stylized AA or AAA projects Portfolio - Strong portfolio focused on stylized character design - Clear examples of characters with personality, emotion, and storytelling depth - Work demonstrating expressive poses, facial expressions, and narrative-driven design Design Skills - Excellent understanding of shape language, silhouettes, and exaggeration - Strong sense of anatomy adapted for stylization - Solid grasp of costume design, color theory, and visual hierarchy Software & Workflow - Proficiency in industry-standard 2D concept art tools - Basic 3D skills for blockouts or exploration are a plus Communication & Remote Work - Fluent English - Comfortable working fully remote using Slack, Jira, and Notion Bonus Skills - Ability to concept characters directly in 3D - Experience influencing or supporting art direction - Strong interest in character-d
