We are seeking an experienced Technical Artist to join Playdead’s art team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills working with Unreal Engine, who thrives on finding innovative solutions to the challenges of simulating a large, fully open world game. Your responsibility as a Technical Artist will be to support other artists on the team with the technical aspects of the art pipeline, to develop various simulated systems in an open world, and to act as a bridge between art and other disciplines. This may include the creation of Unreal shader graphs, the development of blueprint-based tooling, working with environmental simulations (such as weather, water, sand, etc), and generally assisting with all technical art challenges in our open world game. For all of these tasks, you will work closely with the animators, programmers, sound designers and artists here at Playdead. We are particularly looking for a colleague who enjoys setting their own goals and taking responsibility for their own schedule. We are working within a highly focused and ambitious vision, which requires adapting to the existing visual style while contributing your own ideas to the whole.
